This article will provide information about the different kinds of lights that are used in vehicles today and what is their purpose. Also you will find out how to adjust your lights to work better for you. Headlights will be the first thing that I will cover. They are perhaps the most important kind of lights because they provide an opportunity to drive in the dark and to see even when the visibility is greatly reduced. It is very important for your headlights to work properly because during the night you will need to see everything in front of you in order to not crush into an unseen object or other vehicle. This is why there is a law that says that during the night you must use headlights that are...
2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24
The 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 racecar was designed subsequently in 2005 as a stock car, and it has its foundations firmly on the critically acclaimed V8 Vantage road car. The car was named after the "Nürburgring 24-hour race", which it has done very well in a couple of times, and it is one of the most exacting and assiduous racing circuits in the world. The N24 is only constructed toward European specifications, and it was given a multitude of alterations, upgrades, and changes to make it on the same plane as any other car in competitive racing. The car was only produced as a limited production vehicle, and only built by hand, which is the Aston Martin stamp of extensive fine craftsmanship...
Buying a used car? You need an extended auto warranty to protect you from expensive surprises down the road. But be careful when your dealer tries to sell you used auto extended warranty coverage. Usually, the dealer is simply reselling used auto warranties issued by a used auto warranty company, with a markup of up to $1000. You could just as easily have bought the extended warranty directly from the auto warranty company. But overpaying for a third-party used car extended auto warranty is certainly not the worst used auto warranty deal you can get. The worst auto extended warranty deal is to buy one that isn't issued by a third party at all. Dealer-Issued Extended Auto Warranties Explained Yes...
Hands up those who remember rollers skates, the forerunners of those annoying trainers kids scoot silently round supermarkets on these days... Little things with four wheels that you strapped on your feet and which gave you an often uncomfortable ride down paths and over manhole covers. The modern day equivalent could well be the new Peugeot 207 GTI, only in this case you strap it to your nether regions and prepare for a hell of a ride. Which it will give you. Although there are times you need to have your teeth firmly clamped together to avoid the risk of biting the end of your tongue off. The ride is, shall we say, without compromise. Firm perhaps doesn't quite sum it up, a fact you'll discover at...
How Your Renault Dealer Will Make You Young Again
Tell you what, being young was brilliant. Yes, I know I'm only 24 now, but I'm talking about when I was six or seven and could play with my toy cars, build vehicles that defied the laws of physics out of Lego and race my dad on Scalextric. Sitting in the cinema recently I watched Speed Racer (I believe I make up exactly 100% of the world's population that has viewed said film) and I really rather enjoyed it. Set in the future, the crux of the film revolved around a lad handily called Speed Racer who raced around a full size Scalextric track in a futuristic car. Many gravity defining minutes later, with bright neon lights whizzing past my eyes I was hooked - the drive home never seemed so slow and...
How many meals did you have to skip? How many movies were you not able to see? How many cigarettes did you sacrifice? How many jackets and clothes did you window shopped? How many hours did you spend sweating? Just how much did you really sacrifice so that you would be able to buy that vehicle you love? Come to think of it, you sure did give up quite a lot of things you would wanted to have. But you decided that saving your money for something far better would be worth the wait and the sacrifice. Now, you just found out that your vehicle has just been stolen. Well, if that happens, then you would be one of the statistics in the various studies done by different groups on vehicle thefts. One...
Earlier this year, representatives from about 600 Saturn dealerships converged in Colorado Springs for the annual National Retailer Business Meeting. The said conference is aimed to give Saturn dealers learn more about the company's expectations and goals. The knowledge of this, of course, will give dealerships the chance to improve their performance in dealing with consumers. This year though, the company's goal is different. This is because this year, Saturn decided to strengthen their commitment to their consumers and the environment by partnering with the Habitat for Humanity. Under the partnership, Saturn dealerships will be building four environmentally-conscious homes for the Colorado...
VW Scirocco
VW Scirocco - Back For Good? Most people know that the word Scirocco derives from the Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara desert you did know that didn't you? Did you also know that the last Scirocco's finally rolled off the production line as far back as 1989? Well after a nineteen year or so absence the Scirocco is back some say by popular demand others say that car manufacturers' attempts at recycling has started with just the names! Whatever your view on the matter I think the consensus of opinion is that the return of this sporty hatchback is all together a welcome one. The origins of the Scirocco go back to the early seventies when VW realised they would have to replace the beautiful...
The American economy is not as strong as Americans would want it to be. The housing problem still exists and the price of petroleum fuel is increasing. On top of this, the government looks to be in a locked mode, just watching the action between presidential candidates. Thus, consumers are left off to cope up with the increasing price of commodities on their own. Automakers are aware of this and they are also aware that the demand for new vehicles is still there, the problem is that people are not as interested anymore due to financial concerns. The answer of automakers is to tighten up their belts and offer incentives to consumers. These incentives come in different forms depending on the...
A Brief History of the Porsche Motor Company
Ferdinand Porsche played an important role in the development of airplanes and racing cars, and the construction of tanks for the Wehrmacht. He is an automobile engineer with more than a thousand patents to his name. He was appointed chief engineer at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart in the 1920s. Later on, he set up his own engineering workshop and designed among others the Volkswagen. At the plant where Volkswagen was made, Wolfsburg, he was chief of operations and at the end of the war he was interned by the Allies. He was released a few years later and started building his first car with his son, Ferry Porsche. The car was named the Porsche 356 and it was a sports car and a reminiscent of the...
The Swedish automaker subsidiary of General Motors, Saab producer of Saab Brake dust shields has recently released a statement claiming that it has made around 2157 changes to its 2008 9-3 lines of vehicles. Although it's going to be quite impossible to verify such number of improvements fortunately the changes are made obvious making them much easier to see. In terms of looks, the new Saab 2008 lines of 9-3 vehicles has taken some of its styling cues from one of Saab's good looking creations, the Aero X concept. The styling from Aero X is evident starting from the A-pillar, completely new 9-3 sheetmetal, the aeronautically inspired grillework, ominous headlights, and last but not the least is the...

Volvo Reports Fatigued Drivers Similar to Drunk...
With the auto industry producing more and more automobiles every year, it can be expected that the number of accidents involving vehicles will also increase. Numbers gathered by government agencies all over the world suggest that the number of traffic accidents has yet to decline. Reducing the number of vehicle related accidents has become one of the major issues faced by car manufacturers today. Various safety features have already been developed and are credited for saving lives around the world. While these safety features are good steps towards ensuring the safety of consumers, the research and development of car companies with regards to safety features is far from over. That is why Volvo...
It was made a legend in songs and performance. The Chevrolet Corvette was lovingly known just as the "Vette". The Vette was and still is a high speed performance car. It started out a a little sports car and now is grown up to a relatively large sports car. The earlier ones were made out of fiberglass. Come to think of it, the light weight would help save gas today. Unfortunately, the fiberglass didn't offer much protection and you could easily punch a hole in it. The 1967 Stingray was born were an engine that taught you what it was like to pull G's while still on the ground. Factory Hot Rods became real in October of 1963, when the GTO was born. At this time, the Corvette began to grow in size and...
The front end of your car is exposed to various potentially-harmful elements. That is why the hood is made-to secure and protect vital engine components. Despite the protection that the hood provides, however, small road debris are still able to get through. Moreover, there's nothing to protect the windscreen from pesky insects that leave disgusting stains when they crash on the glass. To avoid this from happening, Honda owners can install Honda bug shields. These useful accessories keep away not only bugs but also small rocks that may cause scratches on the surface of your gleaming windscreen. Each Honda bug shield is made from lightweight and durable materials. As much as it protects your car, it...
These days everyone is fixing up their car to be the best it can be. Emissions laws get stricter every year; high gas prices mean keeping the engine, tires, and body in tip top shape; and the struggling economy means maintaining vehicles for as long as possible before taking out loans to purchase a new one. One part that's commonly ignored, though, is the headlights. As headlights gradually get yellow and begin to droop, people don't notice that anything's changing, and then suddenly there's a dear right in front of them that they couldn't spot when it walked out onto the side of the road. Don't let this happen to you! With more and more deadly accidents caused by poor headlight maintenance, there...
Is Bmw Going to Buy Volvo?
Earlier this year, the auto industry saw the luxury brand Aston Martin being sold by its owner, the Ford Motor Company. The sale took place as Ford is seeking funding for its turn around plan. The past years have been tough for the Dearborn, Michigan-based car manufacturer as they incurred their biggest loss in their storied history. After the sale of Aston Martin to a consortium of buyers led by David Richards of Team Prodrive, there were talks about whether Ford will sell another brand that it owns under the Premiere Automotive Group. While there were talks then that the Jaguar may be the next brand to be put on the auction block, Ford declined to comment. Recently though, a part of Ford's...
Volkswagen history
Today VW is one of the biggest car manufacturers in Europe. However this was not like that from the beginning. The word "volkswagen" literally means "people's car" and this was the whole idea behind it. From the beginning VW tried to make a car that is simple enough so that the average people could afford it. It was not exactly a new idea. Before 1930's there have been many attempts to create a simple car model. The problem however was that no matter how simple the car was made it still ended up costing more than the yearly wage of a normal worker. History tells that while many affords was made from VW to create the perfect worker class car a new company was created. In 1930 Ferdinand Porsche made...

In the industrial revolution of automobile manufacture, the processes that involves the ignition of engines has been constantly modified and developed with the latest advancement in technology. The engine convert forms of energy into mechanical or motion force. This mechanism involves the controlled expansion of gases to produce energy. But before this happens, the engine must be ignited first before it actually does its work. Of the many components and systems that make the internal combustion engine, one systematic process initiates the complex structure that brings the machine to life. One that is responsible for everything else that follow suit, let's take a look at the ignition system. The main...

Although it is true that cars are nothing but heavy steel that takes us from point A to point B, other people view it in a different light - like a way of expressing one's self or style. For men the amount of torque and horsepower often reflects the "road" ego they have. And so for this year automakers have rolled out the red carpet to provide car aficionados out there with something to drool about. Auto analysts have predicted that 2007 is going to be a good year for cars. They said that from the trend-setting superminis to amazing lines of supercars and everything in between including auto parts and accessories that car enthusiasts desire are all going to be granted. Leading the desire list is...
Insurance for Performance Cars
Driving a high performance car comes at a price. Insurance premiums for performance vehicles are generally a lot higher compared to smaller engine cars. Insurance companies assign a rating - a number between 1 and 20 - to provide the correct level of car insurance for each particular vehicle. Here is an example of how the system works: • Fiat Panda Insurance Group 1 • Basic Volkswagen Polo Insurance Group 3 • Vauxhall Astra Insurance Group 6 • Audi A3 Insurance Group 12 • Aston Martin DB7 Insurance Group 20 The higher the insurance group then the higher you should expect your insurance premium to be. Car insurance for high powered cars is never going to be...
Ride-on toys have been the favorite playthings of kids for many generations. Not only do they provide hours of exciting fun, but also help with motor development and co-ordination and build healthy hearts and lungs. Active children have stronger muscles and bones and are less likely to become overweight as they grow up, because regular exercise helps to control body fat. When you're looking at your cute little 1 year old toddling around your lounge room, the thought of them getting exercise to possibly prevent weight related conditions in later years is the farthest thing from your mind. Unfortunately, today's lifestyle and dietary changes now mean the risk of your youngster being overweight or...

Back in 1972, something very small came into the United States, and it has changed the lives of millions of people. The Honda CVCC, introduced to America in 1972, a year before the beginning of the oil crisis, has changed technology in the automotive industry forever. Nobody ever imagined the impact it would have on America's culture or economy. That change didn't come overnight, though. It took almost 20 years for Honda to be considered a premier car company. Now, big manufacturers, like General Motors and Ford Motor Corporation, are trying to develop cars to compete with Honda, which was unthinkable when the CVCC first debuted. The "Asian Invasion" didn't happen overnight, and the small...
Rat Rod
Do you love your rat rod as much as I love mine? In case you didn't know, a rat rod is a type of custom car or truck that is usually a modified hot rod from the 1930's through the 1960's. The thing with rat rods is that they are not the polished "trailer queens" like lots of the really expensive hot rods you see. They are almost never painted in any more than primer, and usually have mismatched body panels. The more unfinished they look the better they are. So what is the appeal of a rat rod over a more polished hot rod? Well for starters they are much cheaper. You can actually drive you rat rod and not have to worry about chipping the paint or something. The other great thing about rat rods is that...

Summer is the Season for Convertibles
Convertibles are in this summer. For those who have retractable top vehicles, this is the season to have fun with those vehicles. But for those who do not have yet the vehicle, here is a lead to some of the bests in the market. Some vehicles, however, are hard to purchase because they are on limited production. Examples of these are the new Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. But wait! Some of those can be rented for a road trip. So could still have the chance to drive those convertibles. The Solstice (base price $22,115) and Sky ($25,325) are both nearly identical underneath. Because it comes with a longer list of standard equipment, the Sky is a bit more expensive. Base versions are run by a 177...
Car Buying With A Private Sale
When you go to buy a car there are three places you can usually choose from. You can choose a car dealership, auction or a private sale. With a private sale you are dealing directly with an owner that needs to sell the car for a variety of reasons. In most cases they are trying to get a little more for their car than was offered at trade in for the new vehicle or they had this one sitting around for some reason. In most cases the private sale is going to be a move filled with a little desperation. It is always good to approach the person to try and ascertain the reason they are selling. Sometimes you may have to read between the lines, but most often you will find it is a move to make their...
Ford Increases European Market Share
The Ford Motor Company is proving to be resilient in the face of difficult times. Though Ford is losing billions in the US and market share at that, the company is holding firm in Europe, even increasing its share of the sales pie. Through August 2008, Ford saw its market share in Europe increase from 7.6% to 8.0%, fueled by its best August in the UK since 2003 and its best month ever in Germany. Moreover, across its 19 European markets, Ford has sold 5500 more cars year to date than last year, an amazing feat considering the economic times we're in. "We are pleased to see our market share growing substantially in many markets despite lower overall volumes because of the general weakness in...
Safety And Reliability Of Our Vehicle's...
We owe a debt of gratitude to early "hot rodders". Those who modified and raced cars in their day pushed along the development and evolution of cars and vehicle steering mechanisms so now we can count on precise, safe and reliable steering mechanisms and units without question. It is always interesting that is usually not the factory design teams, with all their resources, that push along developments and modifications in the automotive industry. It is often the hobbyist, the guy in his home garage, who under competition leads to the development and progression of what becomes improvements and modifications in the automotive. At a later point the automotive industry will step in to mass produce the...
The Honda CR-V is a vehicle that has already been in the automotive industry since the year 1996. This year could be considered as its tenth year in the industry. This vehicle is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle and it has been built in only one body style which is the sport utility vehicle that holds five doors. The Mazda Cx-7, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, and the Mitsubishi Outlander are the vehicles that can be considered as the tough contenders of the Honda CR-V in the race to the top. Now, the Honda Motor Corporation has sent out the newest Honda CR-V out to the industry. According to the company, this new vehicle is actually one that would give you a good driving experience. Plus, it...

As an expensive piece of equipment it is vital you get the choice right, try not to be swayed at the dealership, stick to what type of car you want and the price you are willing to pay. Research is essential when getting a new car and should be carried out extensively before you even head down to the car dealership. Use the internet to look at the various cars that fulfil your requirements; whether you are looking for a sporty car or a car to...
California Dreaming (On a British Summer's Day!) As I sit here in my dingy subterranean office (well almost, there's certainly no window to speak of!) I couldn't prevent my mind from wandering. Initially my thoughts turned towards the weather which has been frankly awful for a number of summers now. I can remember a time when me and my little collection of pals would pack a few items (mainly beer and instant noodles!) and head off on a Friday after work for a spot of camping. The summers seemed never ending with sunburn for everyone, due to lack of protection, which nearly led to another story but I won't go there! Copious amounts of warm cider (West Country Lads) were consumed. This usually...
Car Loans Drive Down The Cost
Most car buyers spend hours researching the makes and models of car before deciding which to buy. Then four out of ten rush out to the showroom and sign up for the car within 30 minutes of stepping inside. But will their painstaking research extend to sourcing the cheapest finance package? Probably not. Whilst around 50% of new cars bought privately are purchased on finance, nearly 20% sign up in the showroom for the finance deal offered by the manufacturer. Unfortunately that could turn out to be a costly decision. With typical manufacturers finance costing 13.7% per year over a 3 year and including a 10% deposit, they could be throwing some £1,800 down the drain. Take someone buying a new...

Volvo, one of the leaders in retractable hardtop, is maintaining its standing as it paved way for the comeback of its C70. Volvo C70 started out as a coupe and had been developed by Volvo design team led by Fedde Talsma to combine coupe and convertible. Consequently, C70 means two cars in one. The design team of Volvo worked on the new C70 to create a sporty coupe that can be transformed into a striking convertible. The idea on the outset is to make a car that will look at its best with or without a top. The latest generation of C70 convertibles uses retractable hardtop instead of soft hood. Said retractable hardtop has a maximum operation limit of 30 seconds. To give nothing but the best...

The snooty sales target for the latest generation E90-based M3 was revealed by the German automaker's M division representative. The M3 is a performance version of the popular compact 3-Series vehicles, which use some of the BMW 325IS parts. In essence, M3 models are based from the E30, E36, E46 and the E92 models. The Bavarian automaker sold 90,000 units of its previous M3, the E46 model, before the production of such was discontinued. Compared to the 18,000 sales of the original E30, the M3 brand has evolved into a mass-market product in its own right. Separately, BMW announced Tuesday its firm...

A Lesson in Driving
The rich men with the big bucks and shiny, expensive cars are almost always being chauffeured around. They don't realise that they are missing out on something - the real joy of owning a car is to drive it. Well, of course, if you don't drive properly, then even a thing as pleasurable as driving can seem as an arduous task. To drive a car smoothly, here are a few tips that will come in handy. (These are based on a right-hand drive vehicle, so you can modify the tips as required if you use a left-hand drive).
